Leading in healthcare can be a challenge at the best of times. However, leading during a pandemic has introduced unparalleled layers of stress and anxiety into our long-term care workplaces.
Are we seeing workplace incivility heightened as a result of COVID-19? If so, why does that matter? How do we recognize incivility? How might we be contributing to it? And, most importantly, what can we do about it?
In this webinar, we examine incivility in its various forms, from a front-line and research perspective. We explore how engaged leaders can model positive interactions, facilitate effective communication and collaborative environments, and create connections, trust and shared meaning to address (in)civility and create psychologically safe and healthy workplaces.
Heather Cooke, PhD – Heather is a post-doctoral research fellow at the UBC School of Nursing. With more than 20 years’ experience working in a front-line and research capacity in long-term care, she is passionate about improving the experiences of those who work and live in care homes.
Rhonda Croft MSN RN – Rhonda is a Professional Practice Officer with the BC Nurses’ Union. She has years of community and long-term care nursing experience, as well as union leadership. She is passionate about promoting civility and kindness in the workplace.
Patricia Giesbrecht BA LPN – Trish has 14 years’ experience working in seniors’ care, in both a front-line and leadership capacity. She is currently working as the Program Director for a newly launched HCA program at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford BC.
